Yogyakarta, 18 September 2026 — The Undergraduate Archaeology Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), held an Internship and Further Study Information Session on Friday, 18 September 2026. The session took place at Room S709, 7th Floor of the Soegondo Building, featuring Sofwan Noerwidi, S.S., M.Q.P., Ph.D, an alumnus of UGM Archaeology and Head of the Center for Archaeometry Research at BRIN, as the speaker.

The session was attended by students from the 2024 cohort of the Undergraduate Archaeology Study Program as part of their preparation for internship opportunities at BRIN, as well as fresh graduates from the 2022 cohort who are interested in pursuing further study with funding support from BRIN through the Degree by Research program.

During the session, Dr. Sofwan Noerwidi introduced various opportunities available at BRIN, particularly those related to archaeological and archaeometric research. For the 2024 cohort, the session provided information on two internship pathways, namely research internships and regular internships, offering students opportunities to gain experience in a professional research environment.

Meanwhile, for the 2022 cohort graduates, the session provided information on opportunities to pursue further study through the Degree by Research program with funding support from BRIN. The program offers an opportunity for graduates to continue their education while developing research in their respective fields of interest.

As a UGM Archaeology alumnus who currently works at BRIN, Dr. Sofwan Noerwidi also shared insights into research opportunities and professional development in the field. The information provided is expected to help students and graduates better understand the opportunities available through BRIN and prepare according to their respective academic and professional plans.

Through this activity, the Undergraduate Archaeology Study Program at UGM and BRIN continue to strengthen collaboration in providing students and graduates with access to internship, research, and further study opportunities.
