Yogyakarta – The Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, welcomed 77 new undergraduate students during the departmental session of PIONIR Kampung Budaya 2026, held at Margono Room 303 on Thursday (August 6).
The session served as an introduction to the Department’s academic environment and provided new students with an overview of campus life and their future academic journey. The entire program was facilitated by the Archaeology Student Association (HIMA), supporting new students as they began adapting to university life.
During the first session, the Head of the Undergraduate Archaeology Study Program, Dr. Fahmi Prihantoro, S.S., M.A., introduced the Department’s faculty members and explained the academic system, course structure, and various academic and non-academic programs available throughout students’ studies.
The second session was led by HIMA, which introduced the student association, its organizational structure, divisions, and various programs designed to encourage students to develop their interests, skills, leadership, and organizational experience during their time at the university.
Through this activity, the Department hopes that the Class of 2026 will become familiar with the Department’s academic community and gain a better understanding of the opportunities available to support both their academic and personal development throughout their studies at Universitas Gadjah Mada.
