Yogyakarta, October 21, 2024 – UGM sent 54 teams to compete in the 37th National Student Scientific Week (Pimnas) 2024 held at Airlangga University. One of the teams representing UGM at the 37th Pimnas is the team from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, led by Muhammad Fernanda Dhiyaul Hak (Archaeology-FIB), with members Fatiya Hasna Alifan (History-FIB), Nurul Hilda (FKH), and Laras Tristanti (Archaeology-FIB), and supervised by Dr. Fahmi Prihantoro, M.A., successfully won gold in the Presentation category in the PKM-RSH 2 class and silver in the Poster category.

The research conducted under the Student Creativity Program in the field of Social and Humanities Research (PKM-RSH) addressed the theme of animal exploitation in social media, examining the history of animal exploitation based on the concept of Critical Animal Studies. Indonesia, which ranks first in cases of animal exploitation on social media, exacerbated by the prevailing understanding in society that exploitation is limited to violence, motivated Fernanda and her team to address the theme of animal exploitation.
