Camella Sukma Dara, S.S., M.A., an alumna of the Archaeology Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada, was a speaker at the Cultural Heritage Conservation Seminar held on December 13, 2025. The seminar took place at Artotel Suites Bianti and was attended by academics, museum professionals, and cultural heritage practitioners.

In her presentation titled Preserving the Threads of History: Textile Collection Conservation in Indonesian Museums, Camella emphasized the importance of textile conservation as an integral part of safeguarding Indonesia’s cultural identity. She explained that textile collections are not merely aesthetic objects, but also carry historical, social, and technological information from the societies that produced them.

Camella also highlighted various challenges in textile conservation, including environmental factors, material degradation, and limited resources within museums. Through her presentation, she stressed the need for appropriate, sustainable, and collaborative conservation approaches involving museums, academics, and the wider community. The seminar aimed to raise awareness of the significance of preserving textile collections as vital links to Indonesia’s historical heritage.
