Yogyakarta, November 11, 2025 — The Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, in collaboration with the Indonesian Archaeologists Association (IAAI) Regional Committee of Yogyakarta–Central Java, held a Scientific Discussion on Archaeology with the theme “Tracing the Past and Preserving Cultural Heritage” on Tuesday (11/11) at the Soegondo Building, Faculty of Cultural Sciences.
The event was officially opened by Dr. Mimi Savitri, who, in her opening remarks, emphasized the crucial role of archaeology not only in understanding the past but also in addressing present-day challenges.
“As a nation rich in cultural heritage, Indonesia needs archaeological studies that do not only focus on understanding the past but also respond to current issues. Therefore, this forum serves as an important platform to strengthen collaboration among researchers, academics, communities, and policymakers,” said Dr. Mimi Savitri in her speech.
This scientific discussion served as a meeting point for individuals and groups concerned with cultural heritage preservation — from academics and researchers to cultural practitioners. Through this event, participants are expected to generate new ideas that reinforce the role of archaeology in national development and heritage conservation.
