I Putu Adhimas Radiasnyah Aryawan and Fika Miranda Putri, archaeology students at the University of Gadjah Mada (UGM), successfully won an innovative idea award for their work at the Borobudur Youth Engage Camp 2024, organized by UNESCO. The event took place in October 2024 at the Village Economic Center (Balkondes) in Wanurejo, Borobudur. During the event, Radian and Fika represented the participants in presenting their work to the judges after undergoing various selection processes, ultimately winning the award and securing a grant of Rp.10,000,000 (ten million rupiah). Their ability to package ideas, present concepts, and outline future implementation opportunities was recognized by the judges.

“To be honest, I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Borobudur Youth Engage (BYE) 2024 program. All activities were interactive, and we gained knowledge about the management of cultural heritage sites, Borobudur Temple, and the impact it has on the surrounding community and society. This has been very helpful in supporting my archaeology studies at Gadjah Mada University and the practical implementation of the program our group has planned,” explained Radian, representing the Nawa Sari team.

Nawa Sari itself is a product created by Radian and Fika, a perfume that utilizes extracts from vegetation around Borobudur Temple. Additionally, the two students integrated classical Indonesian cultural figures as icons in the perfume packaging, thereby representing the unique culture of the Nusantara region.

In this regard, Radian hopes that this initiative can reach more universities and students, giving them the opportunity to cultivate creativity, innovation, teamwork, and tangible contributions to society.

Radian and Fika’s creativity in innovation, which led to their achievements in the field of innovative ideas, reflects the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the areas of Quality Education through enhancing students’ skills, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through innovative ideas generated, and Sustainable Cities and Communities through the preservation of cultural heritage. Through their interests and talents, it is hoped that students will continue to learn and become an inspiration to many people.
